Here is a rough guide of what happened at Carnival Tassie 2002.

20/01/02 After a bit of a late night last night most took the chance to sleep in except for a couple of the unlucky ones that had early flights. The rest of the group had a mainly quiet day which included lunch and a visit once again to the waterhole and rock cliffs nearby WEC. Some took the daring jump into the waters far below. Most of the team then flew out at about 6.30pm to head back to Melbourne.
Carnival this year has been one of the best of the last few years and was enjoyed well by most of the group. We look forward to Carnival 2002 in Melbourne in September / October.

  19/01/02

Morning finals made today an early start for all the teams. After an early breakfast the team made their way to the stadium for the finals starting at 9am. We had 5 out of our 8 teams in the possible 6 finals. Of this 5 we could only possibly win 4 as the U/18 were playing each other. And win the 4 possible finals we did, with a great result for all teams. Of the other 2 finals WA won the Mens A and SA the mens B.
We then travelled back to WEC and the waterhole once again for a relaxing afternoon before the presentation dinner. The presentation dinner was held at 'The Albert Hall' in Launceston where the winners of our 4 team were presented. There were also awards for MVP, top scores and the 'All Stars Teams' of which many of our players also featured.
After the dinner we went back to WEC for our last team time and sharing of what carnival meant to each of us this week.

18/01/02 The weary started late this morning as once again a sleep in was in order. Some got up and went to a local pool as it was a nice day where along with some of the other states we were able to use a waterslide for ourselves. Others had a relaxing morning before we all made our own lunch to take to the park. For lunch we headed off to a nearby park where the was a waterhole as park of the river to swim in. Some went in but it was quite cool. Many just enjoyed the relaxation time before we headed back for team time. Dave and Annie spoke about how God has played a part in their lives. We then headed to the courts for the games and once again had a mix of results. After the games we headed back to WEC for plays of the day and we also watched a video as part of this. We had pizza for supper and then headed off to bed before the early finals in the morning.

17/01/02 Today was basically our first rest day in which people could relax a bit more with no scheduled activities. Some used the time to sleep in or play golf and a couple hired motorbikes for the day. We had lunch at WEC and then people relaxed before we headed down to the courts for the afternoon/evening games. The games were a more positive result this evening with most teams winning. The exception was when we played ourselves - Mens A. We had supper at the stadium this evening before returning to WEC. Team time this evening consisted of a couple of games and fun activities before the usual nominations for play of the day and the Mae Ling trophy. At team time Carmen and Mark spoke about how they came to accept God and what changes have occurred in their lives. And once again in the wee hours of the morning it was time to retire.

16/01/02 An all day tour had been planned for all the states so we had an early morning wakeup for breakfast before meeting at the stadium. We all boarded bigger bus's than our usual bus's for the trip north to Beauty Point and Sea Horse World. This 'attraction' is where they breed Seahorse for Aquariums in Australia and abroard. After our visit there we went on the bus's to Georgetown and enjoying lunch there giving the local economy a small boost. We then moved on to Low Head where we enjoyed the beach and the park for cricket, football and throwing the vortex etc. Once again our bus journey continued and arrived back to Launceston and WEC. The first games were not till 5.30pm so a short rest time was had before heading back to the stadium. The games were once again a bit of a mixed bag with the girls continuing to do well. After the games we returned to WEC for our team time for the day. Jeff, Tim and Andrew gave their testimonies about how God has changed their lives. We then had a quick suppper before going off to bed.

15/01/02 The day started off with a quick breakfast before we all headed off for training. This was a light training session for most with the soreness from the first games and just brushing up on the tactics for the rest of the week. After training we headed back to WEC for our first team time of the day. Tim spoke about encouragment as our theme for today and we were led in a new courtside chant by our cheerleading coach Clayton.  A big serving of pasta was served for us all for lunch and the we relaxed for the afternoon and some headed off for golf. Once again the games started at 4.30pm so we all piled in the bus's and made the trip to the stadium. The teams had a bit of a mixed night with 4 wins and 5 losses. After the games we went back to WEC and had team time which involved reflecting on the day and how we'd been encouraged. A few also reflected upon what Carnival mean to them and we had a brief supper before goin to bed.

13/01/02 A quiet start to the day today with a few of they players going to morning church. This was followed up by a BBQ lunch back at the 'Oasis' ( as it's been codenamed ) with the rest of the group. There have also been a few more players who have flown in today, some without luggage but not to worry. Some of the group went and played golf while others went and saw 'Ocean Eleven' at the movies or had a relaxing afternoon at WEC. The Opening Church service was in the evening and this was a great service to start off the Carnival week. We all retired back to WEC after supper. Many of the players have caught up on friendships from previous years so let the games begin.

12/01/02 A 'fun' day to start off with for many of the players with flights being delayed, one by 3 hours, one by 1 hour and another one being cancelled. Someone also missed their flight due to -  shall we say an error in judgement - we'll get the chaplain to pray for him. Most of the players flew in today with the rest tomorrow. The players are settling in now to WEC and enjoying the upgrade of facilities from last year.
